Dante Adventure – Back From the Vet

pedigree-216856_640Skipper was napping on the sofa. He was totally tired from the event at the office. Yeah, it was actually an event. I have never been in such a scenario and completely unprepared for what happened where we ended up.

You see, we’ve never actually been to where Gracie goes during the day. We normally just hang around the apartment and do dog stuff like chew on things and race around and make pillow forts in the sofa room. But we found out where Gracie goes during the day.

No joke, it was actually really neat. And since we didn’t end up at the doc’s office getting poked with needles and sharp things, it was much better than anticipated. We almost regretted hiding the keys from her and slowing things down, but it was good practice for future runs. It also made it completely obvious that Gracie is planning ahead just as fast as we can come up with clever ideas like that.

So when we arrived after what seemed like a long drive, we had to be on our leashes and stick to the path. Lots of rules there. There were some people wandering around and tons of trees and bushes and buildings that needed exploring, but we were to go directly to our destination. Do not sniff bush, do not go potty, do not collect any treats.

Turned out alright though, since we did get quite the treat when we arrived at the party. Yeah, I have to call it a party, because I don’t really know what it should be called. It was just a big room with lots of people. We were the only dogs, so we got all the attention.

Yes, we gotta get lots of attention and neck rubs. More than enough neck rubs. Perhaps too many, but that’s a stretch. The attention was pretty dramatic though. Someone got all weird though and started examining my ears. Like, looking inside of them and seeing what they could find. Sort of strange, and I tried to tell them there’s nothing up there, and even Skipper agreed with me (though I’m suspicious now that he was actually making fun of me), the guy seemed to insist that there was something of terribly great interest in there. He even used a light to make sure.

Skipper got most of the attention though. They were rolling him over and over, checking his paws and examining his nose. It was more than a pup could handle though. Especially when they made him to run through the obstacle course.

I didn’t do the course, but they made me jump through hoops though. I told them I don’t do such things, but then they offered me a treat, so I had to do it. No other choice. If you’re a dog, you’d understand.

So now that we’re home, I’m tired, and Skipper is plumb passed out at the moment. Just an anchor on the floor. Gracie tried to move him earlier, but he wouldn’t budge. Just rolled right out of her hands and back onto the floor. He picked a great spot too: right in the hallway.

There’s not really any further plans for the day, but I’ll just let you in on a little secret…Gracie is still looking for those keys. So if you wanna hide anything never to be found again, you know where to go.
