Dog Journal – Entry 117: Summer Fruits and Outdoor Feast

beach-1850952_640The awesome thing about warm weather is all the outdoor eating. This is primarily for the reason that people tend to eat way messier when they’re eating outside. They like to drop stuff and even throw perfectly awesome food into the grass. And that doesn’t bother me one bit.  It’s like an awesome feast just waiting to be had.

For starters, keep in mind that all the fresh food is always secured and kept under lock and key until the eating begins. There’s no getting in. You’ll just have to be patient and wait for the peoples to start feasting.

An easy one is simply to start begging for food. People are a lot more giving when they’re outside, so don’t go inside and start this. It also works really well when there’s youngsters or visitors hanging around. Get them first.

Sneaking under the table is an excellent idea if your pal is alert to your plans. Stay covert and don’t make a scene if you’re begging. Instead, just nudge your nose into laps and give them the best puppy-dog eyes you got. Also, the younger they are, the more likely they are to share.

Don’t forget to check the cooking place afterwards. There’s always leftovers. Just be careful because it could be hot and you’ll singe your whiskers. Instead, stick to the ground. There’s always something just lying around.

Fresh fruits are a nice treat too. Watermelon is my favorite, so be sure to snatch up what you can. Leftover fruits get tossed all around, and the odds are that there’s enough leftovers to make a very nice dessert.

So do you have any feastly favorites that your pal likes to prepare outdoors? I’m still all about the bones, but the watermelons are good too. But if someone has a favorite they’d like to recommend, I’ll tell my pals and see if they’ll eat it messily outside this summer.
