Dog Journal – Entry 174: A New Friend

dog-2997399_640My pal and I are bestest pals. I never even knew how awesome we were together until we found him. Yeah, we totally found him. He was wandering around all by himself when my friend and I were out for a walk down to the park. And well, he just sort of started tagging along for the trip.

When we got to the park, we started playing and running around and doing all the things you’re supposed to do at the park, and it was really fun. It turned out that he didn’t even know what his name was though, which was totally weird. Even the cat knows her name and we didn’t even give her one. But this dog did not have a name, so I gave him one he could use for the time being. His name is Tye.

So we played and played and raced around, and Tye was totally fun, even though he did run into the bushes because he wasn’t looking where he was going. That seemed to be a habit of his, always looking back to see if I was catching up instead of keeping his eye on the goal. But eventually we grew tired and the sun was setting so we headed back home.

Instead of staying and playing with some of the other pups and peoples, Tye followed us all the way back home, and my friend didn’t really know what to do. I didn’t know either. Was Tye supposed to come over for a sleepover? I asked if he could stay the night, but I wasn’t sharing my treats so we were going to have to get some extras at the store.

So we invited Tye into the backyard for some extra playtime. When Tye seemed to enjoy hanging out with us, it quickly became too late for us to find out where his home was, so he stayed the night.

And the next day too.

In the end, I got a new friend to hang out with while my pal is away at work. The funny thing is, I can’t even consider what it was like before without him. I mean, I must have been so bored before that I can’t even recollect. But now, I’ve got a new friend and he’s got a new name on his collar, but I still call him Tye.
