Dog Journal – Entry 95: Peculiar Object

candle-197248_640There are certain things that seem to change around the home this time of the year. Most of them tend to be very out of place and most importantly…they smell funny. Sometimes they even obstruct racing routes or are just downright strange.

Really, I just want to focus on a few I’ve seen under the roof that other pups out there, those young pups who don’t know any better, should probably hear about.

There’s a thing called a “candle.” I don’t know why it has such a funny name, but it’s something pups really need to avoid. The reason this is so important for youngsters is that these dancing lights smell funny too. So much intrigue. But beware! Super hot! Do not lick the candle. Don’t even sniff it or you’ll lose your whiskers.

One that really bothers me is all the funny smells everywhere like your pal is getting ready for visitors or something. They’re usually “cleaning” and “washing” smells too, so don’t lick the crumbs off the floor. It tastes terrible. Even the dresser and the table may have funny smelly stuff on them…unless you like a bad taste in your mouth, don’t go licking stuff if you enjoy flapping your tongue on stuff like me.

The extra fluff laying around is also very deceptive. I really like the big blanket that my pal puts out this time of the year. Unfortunately, it also gets me into a lot of trouble. New covers and pillows and things like that are not actually play-toys apparently. So don’t get carried away with de-fluffing them or dragging them around the house. You will get in trouble when your pal finds out.

So what are a few things that you sniff suspicious around your house this time of the year? I know all sorts of strange new things pop up, but what’s the one that really stands out to you?
