Nixi Adventure – Set, and Go!

autumn-2890747_640The park was full of peoples. Lots of them too. If I could count that high, I would tell you. But we didn’t even have enough paws to do so.

There were some pups wandering around with their friend, but there was little opportunity for playtime and games right now.

There were lights and food stops everywhere, much fun and things to do. There were even spots where you could throw the ball and get the squeaky toys, but we weren’t allowed to play them. Brandon was, but he didn’t want to right now, and the people wouldn’t let us take a ball with us for later.

We wandered around, sniffing and checking things out, and eventually got to a more open area where the traffic wasn’t as busy. Here, there were more fun things to do which were in my opinion way more entertaining for our group. Mostly because the games there wouldn’t let us pups participate even though they were giving out huge squeaky fluffy toys for prizes, which are definitely goodies for us dogs. Unless peoples like to play with them too, but I’ve never seen such a thing.

Further in our journey through the park, there were races being played out, people and pups alike were running across the grassy hills trying to find out who was the fastest and most nimble. It was splendid to see, and just when you thought a pup was going to pull ahead for the win, someone would throw a ball and cause total chaos, resulting in an instant restart of positions.

We had to join in, dragging our pals along with us so we could get close to the fun. There’s only so much space in this huge park for us to play, and we were going to use as much as we could. The races lasted only a couple of laps before we saw something interesting. Perhaps that’s why the race was set up in the first place, just so you’d spy with your eye something even more intriguing.

There were the bouncy spots. A thing I’d never seen before. A pup raced off the grassy hill and jumped on one, sending her up into the air and ending in a tumble and a good roll-over. Neat trick. Jewel and I bounced around on the bouncy platform. It was so awesome, just like jumping on the bed only we weren’t getting into trouble for doing it. The other dogs were doing it, so it seemed to be the thing to do, and our friends were cheering us on from the sidelines. I tried bouncing from one spot to the next, but it was hard to control what direction I was going, and we ended up back on the grass only to hop on and try again.

Eventually, the sun began to set, so we thought it should be time to go home. But we were wrong. Even more people were showing up to join in the fun. But we were already worn out, at least I was. Shuffles wiggled and puttered along like the youngster he is. I’d already had to stop for water breaks and snacked up a quick treat to keep my tail wagging, but now my paws were starting to slow down.

High above us, there were bangs and bright lights flashing, while all around us the crowd of peoples cheered excitedly. They might have enjoyed it, but Shuffles and I didn’t really know what to do with this and Jewel was tired enough not to really worry too much about it in general. So while Shuffles darted to and fro, barking at the lights in the sky, I convinced Brandon to carry me.

From up here, I could see all the things, and the booms weren’t as annoying anymore. I tried to stay awake, I really did. But a most excellent day of play had put me in just the position to be carried the rest of the way.
