Nixi Adventure – Soaked

rain-443015_640Nixi was not to blame for the situation. Normally, a wet floor would cause all manner of accusations to be tossed around, but it was completely obvious who the culprit was. The kitchen sink had blown a gasket and given the apartment a bath while Nixi and Brandon slept and slumbered.

Brandon was first to discover the mess just in time to ruin his morning coffee and paper read. He wasn’t happy. And the linen closet was quickly raided as towels were tossed about trying to soak up the puddles that had formed in the kitchen.

Nixi was next to notice since her morning breakfast was not available. Sure there was plenty of water, but the tummy was grumbling and wanted something to snack upon. So she wasn’t happy either.

Every step was a squishy one that soaked the paws with icky coldness. To Nixi, it appeared like Brandon was enjoying it way to much. He was laying on the floor, playing with stuff under the sink. But when Nixi tried to find out what he was playing with, Brandon didn’t even want her looking at the secret things beneath the sink. He was trying to keep all the playtime to himself. Which didn’t really bother Nixi much since it seemed to involve getting soaked like it was bath time or something.

While Brandon played his strange game in the kitchen, Nixi decided to work her way from the dryer parts of the apartment. Like up on the sofa where it wasn’t all wet and squishy. Even when the doorbell rang, Nixi stayed right where she was, away from the wet floor.

After a series of squishy steps down the hallway, Brandon led the man with the bag across the soaked floor and showed him the mess. The man just nodded his head like he knew it was a mess. He was fairly calm about it all, though Brandon was getting a little excited.

Not long after, there were fans in the apartment. It felt like a cold storm had blown in to make things seem to go from bad to worse. Now not only was the floor cold, but the air was nipping Nixi’s whiskers.  Even snuggled in the sofa, she could feel the cold wet air of the apartment. It was probably warmer outside.

It didn’t take long for Brandon to get ready and dressed. He even had his sneakers on as he walked around the apartment making funny sounds on the carpet. Despite his invitations to Nixi, he still had to go and scoop her off the sofa and take her with him.

The pup braced herself for the cold air that lurked outside. But to her surprise, the sun was shining brightly and the air had barely a chill to it. In fact, it was actually warmer outside than it was in the apartment.

“Really? Why did you switch it up today?” Nixi asked her pal as she wiggled to be let down.

The warm sidewalk felt nice on her cold paws. Today was going to be a good day. At least for the rest of the day. Or maybe just until it was time to come home. Then again…Nixi’s belly grumbled to remind both pup and pal that they’d forgotten something very important.
