Nixi Adventure – Where Are We?

people-692005_640Nixi sniffed the downtown air. There were smells of all sorts, countless to number. There was food though. Nixi could definitely pinpoint that one. But there were also the smells of lots of people. Lots of them. And unlike the park visitors, these ones weren’t in the playful mood.

In fact, if Nixi were on the ground instead of her pal’s arms, there would be a constant threat to her tail every step of the way. But luckily, she was going for a ride high enough to be safe from the clapping of people’s feet as they trodden down the hot sidewalk.

Brandon carried his pal amongst the crowded sidewalk, trying hard to navigate through the vast number of people while eyeing the signs posted on the buildings. He knew what he was looking for, but getting there was quite the challenge.

“Hello there,” Nixi woofed to another person passing by, “I’m Nixi and do you know where the park is?” But few people even turned to acknowledge the pup’s cheerful woofs and ruffs. Everyone around seemed like they were pretty much in a hurry to get wherever it was they were going. Or maybe they were just all lost too.

After bumping into a few more people, Brandon and Nixi finally made it to their destination. The revolving door was in constant spin, making Nixi a little nervous, but her tail was safely tucked away so everything was alright. The lobby was another situation altogether. There was so much room to play, sofas, chairs, places to race around, floor slippery enough to slide and glide as the ball was chased. So much fun. At least that was Nixi’s opinion. The people hanging around did not share this ideology though. They’d rather ruff and woof amongst one another and go about their business. No frizbees tossed or sticks thrown or pillow forts assembled. Boring.

After a brief chat with one lady who seemed to know a lot of things and where everything is, Brandon carried his pal through the wide open spaces of the lobby and into a hallway of many doors. After a ding and a ring, one door opened up, releasing a few people from the tiny room. Nixi knew it all too well. They were going to be transported to another room. Hopefully it would be a place where you know, people were playing and having fun or at least throwing things.

After what seemed like forever, the doors opened with a ring and revealed someplace new. The open room had a few doors, but only one desk with a lady sitting behind it. She had much authority it seemed to Nixi (this was because of the muffin the lady was currently snacking upon).

After a sip of coffee, the lady behind the desk made a call and directed Brandon and Nixi to where they were supposed to meet. Brandon held Nixi tight and rubbed her neck for confidence as he made his way to the door.

“What? Who are we meeting?” Nixi ruffed to Brandon. “What’s this all about?”

Then the lady had to correct him and directed him to the correct door he was supposed to go through. After a mildly silly sigh, Brandon and Nixi entered in through the correct door…
