Rocky Adventure – Crabby

siri-684881_640I struggled to climb out of the hole I’d dug down into the soft sandy beach. And the only one who volunteered to rescue me happened to be an extortioner by the name of Izzy. Yes, that furry rascal made me give up half my next afternoon treat if he got me out of here. I’ll remember that in the future.

So Izzy paddled away at the soft sand, digging me a nice slope so I could scoot on out of here. The cool breeze floated in from the water and tickled my fur. There were still countless smells that needed to be investigated, so I decided to start off with getting Izzy his portion of what I owed him.

Debbie gave me one of my favorite treats after some whining and convincing on my part. But despite the fact that it was one of those bacon flavored delicious sweet and salty treats, I reluctantly ended up giving Izzy what I’d promised him and I enjoyed the other half.

Then we were off, exploring other areas of the beach. There was some funny smelling plant that was just too smelly to pass up without giving it a good whiff. I think it smelled worse after Izzy took care of his normal business routine. He even finished by woofing to me that it was his. I don’t even know why he’d want to claim it as his own. He can have it.

Closer to the splashing water, the air was chilly and the scent of salt was stronger. There were other things I didn’t recognize, but staring out over the water, I got a little dizzy. It was like the water never ended. And if you’re intimidated by baths in the least, it’ll make the fur stand up on the tip of your tail. So I stopped looking that way and stuck my nose to the ground, sniffing the things that littered the sandy ground.

First, I found a rock. It wasn’t cool, but I liked it. Then there was another thing, and the picture-box watching Izzy called it a “ca-lam,”  trying to sound professional as he exercised his knowledge of all the critters and things he’d learned.

Then we were no longer alone. We both froze and stared. There was the biggest spider I’d ever seen currently crawling toward us, waving his arms around like he excited about something.

“What’s that?” I whispered to Izzy.

“That’s a cr-eb, I think…never seen one so large,” Izzy froze and studdied that critter that slowly a crept it’s way up onto the beach.

“Should we see what it does?” I asked, “or should we run away and confuse it?”

Izzy thought for a moment, which is always a dangerous thing, and then advised that we should investigate the “cr-eb” a little more. You know, get some up close sniffs and see what funny sounds it makes.

As we neared the critter, it clicked at us a few times and then waved it’s claws. I hadn’t noticed that it had those, but it looked a little intimidating. I stopped right in my tracks at that point, while curious Izzy continued onward.

And then…”OUCH!” Izzy cried out as the claws nabbed his whiskers.

There was was dancing and wiggling and wagging, and then my pal cried out, “Help me!”

And I barked, “How much?”
