Rocky Adventure – Indoor Plumbing

drain-1016464_640It was cold and wet outside. Pretty ruff stuff out there, the wind blowing all crazy and everything. I’m sure glad I’m not out there. I could see a squirrel racing down a branch that shook in the wind, but I didn’t feel bad for him. That’s what he gets for being so squirrelly.

The old man set the thing up in the bathroom. It was an odd thing, putting grass on a box and then sticking it in the bathroom, but he’s getting a little old and eccentric. He does funny stuff like this from time to time, especially when he’s tinkering around in his playroom.

He wanted me to come in and check it out, but it was probably a ruse to get me in there and dunk me in the bath. You know how I feel about baths, so this was a no go. He called me over many more times, but I stayed my play by the door, trying to explain to him why I didn’t want to come inspect his work.

“What is it for?” I finally asked.

But what the old man told me to do was explicitly forbidden. Now I know it has to be a trick. Either that or the old man really was loosing it.

When I had resisted all negotiations, the old man took the box of grass into the kitchen and set it down there. Now this is much better. Here, I can at least inspect it to see what this thing is all about. It does make sense putting a garden thingy in the kitchen, you know, keep the birds away from the tomatoes. It’s also very conveniently placed near the food making place for easy access.

Now I felt a little better inspecting this strange difference the old man had discovered. Not much here really, just some grassy stuff in a box. Sort of odd to have things like this inside, but then the old man did a thing. He scooped me up and put me on the grassy box. Was I supposed to be up here? Why is this happening to me? What am I supposed to do now?

When I hopped off, the old man scooped me up and put me back on the box. But that got boring really fast, so I just sat there and waited to see if the old man would stop paying attention so I could make a break for it.

This went on for a while before the old man started going through the cabinets in search of something. I tried to help, but it’s difficult to open these things without thumbs. So I just recommended spots for the old man to search.

Eventually he found a thing. I don’t know what it was for, but apparently it’s good for grass because he poured it in the box. Water? Nope. It was a funky smell, a little familiar, but not exactly the sort you want inside. Yes, it smelled like outside on the fence where Buck likes to leave letters to the mailman.

I sniffed it for a while, but it was too weird. So I tried to cover it up. When scratching at it didn’t work, I decided to at least mask the smell with my own smell. Yup, I did the thing that is not supposed to be done inside, but at least that funny smell is gone, though it’s replaced by my own funny smell now. Oh well, hope some tomatoes grow pretty soon, I’m hungry.
