Dog Journal – Entry 99: Snow Day

bulldog-1636346_640I’ve been a dog as long as I can remember, and if there’s one thing that is totally awesome, it’s when outside becomes a play place of fluffy stuffs. And I understand that many pups do not like the cold outside, but my coat is hefty enough to put up with it…if only my paws were able to keep up everything would be grand.

But I’d like to focus on the awesomeness of what the peoples call “snow.” Now this is not like the slickness of a frozen patio covered in ice, just so we’re clear. Instead, the whole yard is covered in play stuff. And it’s even better when it’s still falling down, floating in the air.

So what do you do? Well, you’ve really got no other choice but to play in it. All of it. But here’s the thing about snow…it tends to hide things. Which is really cool if you like to dig for treasure, but it can be hard on the paws to step on pokey stuff or sharp things. So be sure and tell your pal not to put that sort of stuff out in the yard. Tell them to hide toys or bouncy balls instead or something.

The best part about the snowy stuff is being able to eat it. Like when your pal makes them into snow balls and throws them for you to catch, it’s just cool. It’s also cold. But really neat, if you get my snow drift.

Your paws will get cold, just so you know. So it’s best to take breaks and let your paws warm up every now and then. This is a great time to get paw massages. Just don’t let your pal try to trim your claws since you’ll need those for digging.

Also, I should mention that you’re going to get wet in the process of playing in snow. But you’re all good. It’s not classified as a bath, so there’s no problem there.

Snow is fun. I can’t really tell you more than that. Just be careful you don’t have too much fun or else you’ll nap right through dinner.
