Nixi Adventure – Bath Tacos

bathtub-36384_640Brandon had Nixi in a full body lock. She wasn’t going to escape this time. No way. It was time for the bath. It wasn’t that the bath was a scary thing, Nixi just didn’t like them. She always came out smelling funny and then there’s the water in the ears and suds on the whiskers. And no matter how much she resisted, she had to lick the soapy stuffs, which always made her tongue feel weird.

It was off to the bathing room for them, Shuffles tagging right along singing, “Nixi in the bathTUB… splashing and ahh-soak’n while I get my belly RUB!” He was not the champion of singing pups out there, but it was more of a spur of the moment tune. He might have been a little better, but the howling was usually cut off before he could find that sweet spot.

After all the chasing and the sofa cushions tossed to the floor and all the general ruckus that goes along with such things, the water had chilled down past the nice warm temperature that Brandon had originally selected. Regardless, Nixi was going to get the bath. If she only knew that things would be a lot more comfortable if she’d chosen the easy route.

After some moderate splashing with barks of excitement in the background (Shuffles was still singing his song), the soap went on and the suds came upon the fur. Nixi shivered a little while Brandon made some soapy beards and hats to put on her, which she did not really enjoy, but was left with no other choice really. Well, the hat might be alright, but the beard didn’t match her whiskers, so probably not.

When Brandon considered the bathing to be sufficient, the water was let out and Nixi was allowed to shake off in the bathroom. This was the only place acceptable for such things, and afterwards was the fun stuff. Brandon really enjoyed it, and Nixi would never admit it, but she did too.

After the first few sprays of water were shaken across the bathroom, Nixi was ready and fluffed up, waiting for the towel. Yes, it was the taco time for the pup. This was such a simple thing, yet so much fun for some strange reason.

Brandon lunged with the towel and captured Nixi, making sure to wrap her up real good so she couldn’t wiggle out. Then it was off to the sofa where the taco was made. The other towels awaited the pup, the big towel. Brandon dropped Nixi into the warm fluffy cloth and rolled her up nice and tight.

Once the dizzy disorientation had subsided, Nixi realized that she was all bundled up in the towel, and ready to be rubbed and have her ears checked. One might think the ear checking would be a bother, but for some strange reason, Nixi just loved to have them tugged and massaged. So relaxing after such a stressful bath.

And then it was the calm. Yes, everything was calm again, even Shuffles. Brandon sat on the sofa and rubbed Nixi through the towel while Shuffles wagged his tail and enjoyed his triumph. He’d escaped the bath. It was simple, all he had to do was outrun Nixi and he was free.

Then Brandon turned his sights on Shuffles. The singing had stopped and Shuffles was making the face, his eyes wide and ears darting every which way to seek the quickest route out. But he was only making things more difficult. The bath was eventual. It always was.
